  3. 105th Veterans Day Today we celebrate the 105th Annual Celebration of Veterans Day. Every year, the United States of America gathers Nov. 11 to honor those who have served in any branch of the country's armed forces. Veterans Day is a celebration of all veterans with service in the U.S. military. Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was originally set as a U.S. legal holiday to honor the end of World War I, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. In 1938, through an act of Congress, November 11th was made a legal holiday. Later, U.S. Representative Edward H. Rees of Kansas proposed a bill that would change Armistice Day to Veterans Day. In 1954, Congress passed the bill that President Eisenhower signed proclaiming November 11 as Veterans Day. Weather you say Oorah, Hooah, Hooyah, or serve a different country, PAO and would like to thank all active duty and retired veterans around the globe for their service

  11. Operation Squad Drills Started on: 10/10/2023 Squad Drills Squad Drills are in-game training sessions for infantry soldiers. Squad Leaders develop and teach weekly lessons on soldiering, tactics and use of equipment for drills. Topics include, among others, tactical formations and movement, Battle Drills, convoy operations, radio communications, medical aid, military operations in urban terrain (MOUT), close-quarters battle (CQB), etc. Fireteam Leaders assist their Squad Leader as needed in presenting and leading Drills. These training sessions are held on one of 4ID’s Arma 3 Training Servers, typically using blank templates. Soldiers form up in-server Saturday @1430 EST and step off @1500 EST. Under the Squad Leader’s direction, Fireteam Leaders and Members train to improve offensive and defensive combat capabilities. This training builds Soldiers’ cohesion and performance in 4ID Operations. Drills also improve discipline, timeliness, and stress management through regular training. Development of these skill sets aids the unit in its immediate mission, i.e. to close with and destroy the enemy. Squad Drills produce results in operations. Squads that regularly challenge themselves in drills are generally best suited to adapt to and overcome tactical challenges in the field.

  13. The Army Special Forces, known as the Green Berets, are an elite branch of the Army designed for special operations. The special forces exist to focus on nine particular missions, including special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, security-force assistance and unconventional warfare. These special forces engage in operations like hostage rescue, manhunts and counter-intelligence. Since the Green Berets handle so many special, exciting operations, many individuals in and out of the Army are interested in what it takes to sign up. Requirements for the Special Forces The Army explains that civilians, active soldiers and active officers have different requirements to meet. For civilians looking to join the Army to become a Special Forces soldier, those requirements are: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, between the ages of 20 and 32, and eligible for a secret security clearance. Applicants must be a soldier already, either on active duty or active in the National Guard. Applicants must qualify for airborne training. The Military.com website further explains that the Physical Fitness Assessment minimum standard is 49 pushups, 59 sit-ups, 6 pull-ups and a 2-mile run completed in 15:12. Currently enlisted soldiers and officers have additional qualifications to meet: A general technical score of 100 and a combat score of at least 105 on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. Completion of the Pre-Basic Task List. 20/20 vision in both eyes, when corrected. Completion and pass of a Special Forces physical. Military Career and Special Forces In addition, active soldiers and officers are required to be at certain points in their military career to qualify. Officers interested in joining must be at first lieutenant or captain in order to attend the Special Forces Assessment and Qualification; first lieutenants must then be promotable to captain before the Special Forces Qualification Course. Officers must also have a Defense Language Aptitude Battery score of at least 85. Active soldiers must have a minimum rank of E-3, with no more than 14 years’ time in service at ranks E-3 to E-6 and no more than 12 years’ time at E-7. If E-7, soldiers must be either Airborne or Ranger qualified. They must also be available to be reclassified from their current position. Other Qualifications for Special Forces Special Forces soldiers are expected to have clean disciplinary records with no reprimands, and should have had successful careers so far. For citizens, an existing arrest record may or may not be a deterrent, depending on the branch of the military one is interested in entering. Because the Special Forces have to meet especially stringent physical qualifications, this service is best suited to individuals who have always enjoyed physical activity and working out. The Special Forces require quick thinking, good decision making and analytical skill as well, so individuals who have those personality traits may be a good fit. Other personality traits such as loyalty, drive and dedication will help candidates in this area, too. Green Beret Age Limit Joining the Special Forces after 30 is possible, provided your physical abilities are adequate. Green Beret training is intense, so you will need to be capable of all that is asked of you in order to join. After the age of 36, you will no longer be considered for acceptance in the Special Forces. This, however, is considered a waiverable qualification, so exceptions can be made. Special Forces soldiers train for most of their careers in order to be able to manage the number of unusual missions they will be expected to complete. The qualifications to join are just the start of an intense military career that will take soldiers places other members of the Army may never go.
  14. Have you been selected into the DEP - Delayed Entry Program and not sure what that is or how it works? You may have noticed this posted on your enlistment application: http://localhost/forums/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png Well just as it says it is a 30 day probation period where your squad leader and fire team leader track your activity in the unit (TS/ Discord/ in-game/ Website) and gauge your level of maturity to make sure you are among of quality soldier we want in the 4th Infantry Division. You will be able to attend all events that a normal Private Trainee will be able to attend but just as the rank of "Recruit". You must complete basic training within this 30 day probation to continue through the DEP program. Once your basic training is completed you will be award your Army Service Ribbon (for BCT completion) but will not be promoted to Private Second Class/ Private First Class (BCT with Honors) and will remain at Recruit until the 30 days probation is completed. Once your Time in Service (TIS) is 30 days it is on that said soldier to contact his first line leader (IE: Fire team Leader/ Squad leader) to inform them that they have met the 30 day TIS. From there the chain of command (FTL/SL) of that recruit will discuss that recruits activity/ maturity levels for that 30 days and either approve or deny there performance. If approved: The recruit will be promoted that day (will not have wait until the next promotion ceremony). If denied: The recruit will be reassessed on if they need to complete another 15/30 day probation or given a entry level discharge. (Failure to complete basic training within the 30 day probation will result in automatic denial and given another 15/30 day probation to complete or may result in entry level discharge).
